Ego clash on road

This happen all the time on road. but today it was slightly funny.

On the Wind tunnel road , LINK its a two lane road without divider. Some construction work is going on one side. So only one side is through way.

This Verna guy and autowala are standing head to head on this one lane road. Rest of course gets blocked. People behind/watching are waiting that one of them will budge and traffic will flow.

Instead, both are standing and starring at each other for more than 60 secs. Being on bike I had the prevaledge to pass by them when they were staring at each other.

I would say, in this particular case auto had the right of way as

1) he was in the right side which was open, and verna on blocked side.

2) auto had covered more than 3/4 of blocked way, and verna guy was just in.

Safe moving traffic

Recently I/We have launched a website http://safemovingtraffic.in . I have a personal reason and community reason as well to launch this website
Personal reason being to learn the whole process of launching a website and driving traffic to it. including integrating with google webmasters/ analytics adsense etc...
Secondly, as for community, wanted to contribute to this to make cities more safer and pleasure to drive. I have tried to mention in mission and vision as well.

Touch your mobile to register

Mobile has become an integral part of our lives, to say fourth screen is another body part. As a consumer your mobile number is becoming your identity. Its used to register, identify and track you or anything related to you like shopping pattern.

Mobile number is lengthy number to converse accurately over phone or when in writing on a form. I am sure, a mobile number is sent/received/communicated by most individual everyday.

The touch technology should advance that instead of officially sending an sms/verbally telling, I should be able to communicate two mobiles by bringing them in contact. So much time would be saved.

To get myself registered for a promotion in a store, I simply touch my mobile to receiving device. Just like swiping a credit card. Of course security should be present. bluetooth and IR are still a hassle. I believe the process of communication can/will be made simpler over time.

Love language and love tank

Today I learnt how to fulfill one of the most important sphere of a human life "Emotional needs and how to keep them satisfied".

Thanks to Dr Gary Champman, once you read his book "The Five love languages”, I am sure your concepts of emotional being will become crystal clear. This book is bound to help everyone - parents, married couple, 30yrs into marriage.

  If there are greater times that you feel that you are not loved any more or there is a bigger gap with the one you want to reflect, then sure your "love tank" is less than half full.

 

  He goes on to describe 5 love languages as:-

               1) Words of affirmation

               2) Acts of service

               3) Gifts

               4) Physical touch

               5) Quality time

              

  Every individual reciprocates more readily to his/her primarily love language. And if you / your spouse / parent's are not reciprocating in your love language then you don't feel loved even though they may be doing hundred other things for you.

 

  1) Say as a child, say your primary love language was "quality time" and your parent’s give you gift but don’t play with you or give much needed attention then you'll never be satisfied. But sure if you primary language is ‘Gifts’ you’ll be more than happy.

  2) Say your spouse’s primary love language is 'acts of service', even though you may be gifting her, going out for dinners, but unless you help her with her work (doing dishes, keeping house clean etc.) she would not feel loved.

  3) It wouldn’t matter if you are helping her with her work, giving her gifts unless you say words of affirmation (thank you for doing it for me, you food is very tasty today, you look pretty today ...) if her love language is words of affirmation

 

 

  Going through the book I personally feel enlightened and feel life is simplified once concepts become clear.

Airline discount advertising misleading

If you notice all major websites like http://www.yatra.com, http://www.cleartrip.com, etc have posted major offers on domestic and international flights. The offer read something like "upto 50% cash back on domestic flights" / "50% cash back with HDFC Bank credit cards"

If you carefully read terms and conditions it clearly states:

1) Yatra 

Cash Back on SpiceJet
 Get 50% of base or Rs 250 (whichever is lower) Cash Back on tickets booked 30 days or more in advance.
 Get 15% of base or Rs 150 (whichever is lower) Cash Back on tickets booked less than 30 days in advance.

 

Cash Back on Kingfisher Red
 Get 50% of base or Rs 200 (whichever is lower) Cash Back on tickets booked 30 days or more in advance.
 Get 15% of base or Rs 100 (whichever is lower) Cash Back on tickets booked less than 30 days in advance.

So its max of Rs 250, even your base fair be Rs2000     

2) Cleartrip :Offer Details for Domestic Flights       "Book 4 tickets or more in a single booking (2 round trips or 4 one-way tickets) and get 50% cash back on the base fare or Rs 2,500 (whichever is less)."   

80% of time the offer would not be available   which is basically if you buy 4 tickets   4*(1250 base+ 2500 tax)= 15000 you get 2500 off which is 50%. This the max benefit you can get at minimum cost. Ticket costing anything above or below your discount will only be 10%-20%     As for a layman, in above cases if you include tax then max discount you get is 15%     

3) Spice jet offer "ticket pe ticket offer" In this case once you book a ticket you get a coupon code, which have to activate. And the coupon will be valid to book tickets only after 4 days. By chance if you didnt activate/check then you are doomed.  

So be aware and always read terms and conditions.      

Memories - as I recall -- 1

 Ghaziabad --> till class 5

 

1) Toffee Math:  Very often Mohit and I used to go to a shop very near to our school (silver bells) to buy a toffee (parle kismi), wrapped in red color with parle written on it. The shop keeper used to give 2 for 25paisa and 3 for 50paisa. So sometimes we used to buy for 25 and immediately after that hand over another 25 and steal an extra toffee.  (Got a link, it’s still in the market, I don’t believe this http://www.parleproducts.com/brands/confectionaries_kismi_toffee.asp)

2) Silver bells pre First class: Before I was in first class, I remember the section was altogether different. There used to be a revolving jhoola. We used to have a lot of on that.

3) Gulmohar tree painting: In class 3rd or 4th - teacher taught us how to draw Gulmohar tree. At that time our English book was also 'Gulmohar Reader’. So for the painting she took the whole class outside to the play ground where there was a gulmohar tree, flourishing with flowers. The best part i remember was it so fun to draw the flowers as a kid. Why? Because she taught us the fun way - dip the brush in red color with little water and tap the brush head on to give natural effect. Definitely it screwed up the brush.

Finally the project which I have been working on for past 2 yrs, the first merchant of that product is all set to launch on 06/12/07. http://shopapparel.lacoste.com

This would be a soft launch, we do not expect much traffic. It has some of the real good features such as scene7 integration and various ajax calls(ahhh old stuff), I know , ominature integration.

Well there lots others, above ones kind of interesting to me.
